I have the best readers. They are the opposite of dumb — Stanford prefers the word “nonverbal.” (“Stupid” is also out, to be replaced by “boring” and “uncool,” which is really stupid.)
What writing!! All I can say is #janewells2024 or maybe just have her take over Peggy Noonan’s weekend spot in the @wsj ? Can I get an amen? (Just as long as she’s not storing any classified docs in her garage) 🤓
This is the bro in law enviro hipster chiming in. Jane, correct me if I'm snarking up the wrong tree, but aren't there lots of IDLE oil leases in the hands of Big Oil right now? And leases offered but not bid on? Maybe the government should give ExxonMobil the choice of drilling or losing the billions in subsidies US tax payers provide to support those planetary stewards of progress??
~ it would be interesting to see routine updates on domestic production. i heard post-covid crap that the oil companies had yet to reach production limits they had prior to covid. interesting if they have allowances and chose to just raise prices anyway. "there is no shortage" may very well be true
Never ending fascination over people's consternation at oil companies. If your company is being regulated out of business by a govt. that says it won't let you provide a future for it--your only choice is to consolidate what you have. Thanks, Jane. As always--great insights and so much fun to read.
........i was fortunate to be sent to england on buisness trips a bunch of times. i enjoyed all free time exploring the country.
one saturday sight seeing run with a coworker involved discussions where the brit coworker dropped the remark "no one really likes the French anyway"........
ever since then the term "the French" amuses me to no end........!!!
I was about to flame you when you started in on Stanford. I used to sit in the end zone of games for $5 with a cooler of beer but was dehumanized by USC several times. You gave USC equal time so I regained my self esteem.
George Santos is an affront to anyone with a functioning brain and the slightest sense of integrity. McCarthy saying the voters spoke is just disingenuous to the core, the voters were presented a fictitious character. Santos is a clown and embarrassment to this country.
I guess Musk has lost his "genius" status and he's playing chess while everyone else plays checkers persona now. Long overdue.
The oil companies are dueling with cigarette manufacturers for the most despicable industry ever to market products.
Social media influencers are yesterdays con artists faking workers comp injuries and collecting welfare while working under the table. That being said if you follow some ass clown who is famous strictly for telling you what to spend your money on you deserve to be duped.

Wells at her best! Pointing out the latest attempts to dictate to the world, and leaving on a positive note. Wells at her best! -- Wells at her best!
Bless you!

I think we all must have classified docs in the garage.
The AP Stylebook is OK, but I'll stick to Elements of Style by Strunk & White. Also good is Charlotte's Web.

Another great article Jane. Funny while also informative. Keep up the good work and thank you.

Great article Jane. You gotta love Capitalism the way it is practiced in America, er, the United States.

But Jeff, how do you really feel?
It's hard to say...I have trouble expressing how I feel. Let me think about it and see if I can articulate...
At least for myself, from this day forward, it’s
“The Stanford!”
I am so stealing that. Can I say “steal”?
Absolutely!
Suggest even spicing-it-up: “The steal”
So good.
