Why is Musk whining about a measly $400,000,000 when he wasted $45 billion dollars on Twitter? I see no value to Twitter. The only thing it has accomplished to date is allow Trump to tweet or X or whatever. Musk could of used that $45 billion dollars to promote the EV conversion by lowering the price of his cars even further or subsidizing tesla solar panels for homeowners. EVs and Solar Panels are over priced symbols of green capitalism.. it's all about profit. Nobody is going to save the world from global warming unless there is profit involved. All a big money grab

Jane, Hawaii could have used an automated Emergency Notifications System similar to type we at Melita International invented and used in 1980 at Wisconsin Public Services, Green Bay - which later transformed into sophisticated Outbound/Inbound Call Center solutions.

For years I've been saying that there ought to be mandatory retirement for any and all government employees set at 70 years old. SCOTUS and all federal courts, President and VP, The Congress and Senate. They need time to enjoy their golden years, and new blood needs to enter the fray. Of course, this would have eliminated the problem of Biden/Trump and nobody wanting them as president again. Sadly, the rule makers for the country rarely ask my opinion. :(

Actually, I think Gov. Green is doing a good job talking to the press. And he is showing compassion for the victims. On the other hand, Mayor Bissen is in way over his head. More often, he is seen standing in the back, with his head down. I think he thought this would be some plum job, that he could just coast with. Now he has to really work. Being still new here, I don’t know his history(former judge?) but I have seen comments that he is a product of the “ good old boy “ system. And I have also seen comments that his opponent, running for reelection, Mike Victorino, would have handled this disaster much better.

You could write endless stories about this. Always enjoy your work. 👍 🤙 Aloha

As you know, Paul, Hawaii taxes are high. I hope they get their spending priorities fixed.

This was one hell of a story about the speaker system. They have a “focused” sound pattern that I understand that are even used for the military (aircraft carrier deck alerts with all the keys). The Power Lunch session was great and more cities need to take notice of innovative technologies. I am very proud of your work in bringing this to CNBC!

so sad for the fire in hawaii. and so sick of modern "leaders" completely using their jobs as a cash flow gravy train to achieve a nice retirement thru 4 day workweeks where they only truly "work" maybe 3 days a month?

to sit and do nothing while other portions of the country go thru serious events ~ and to not even copy a few new techniques shown elsewhere in usa to be very smart and functional is unbelievable!

no water? surrounded by the ocean? no super tankers to scoop up some seawater and drop it around?

no alarm system? really? with hundreds of modern tech available to exploit?????

it's just stunning that the "leaders" involved in the time of need simply fell apart and froze or simply covered their own ass! now the island is all but dead and will be the next landscape to be bought up my the mega rich. forget seeing this land ever again.

Another great D&D article. Common sense has definitely left the building.

So hard to understand how we have risen to this point of ignorance. Doesn’t appear that there is any improvement on the horizon. You are not going to run out of

great content to bring to light.

You are so appreciated!

Jane, you need to stop listening to those Musk fanbois. He's a narcissist who lies all the time. Here are a couple of links to flesh out the story. Whoever fed you that sob story for Musk forgot a lot of details. If I could post screenshots for you, I would. In fact, I'll post something on Threads or Twitter for you. Musk stopped Ukrainian offensives. How much money is Musk getting from the US government as grants? Well, Musk isn't paying for connectivity now. But he still threatens to cut off service. He wants to control things. He also lied about meeting Putin (Bloomberg article). Musk is a known liar. Tell those Musk fanbois to come up with their alternate "proof" and I'm more than willing to counter them. Be well, Jane. Semper Fi.

Believe me, I’m not a Musk fan, and his Putin/Ukraine thoughts are not mine — but he jumped in and provided free service and no other defense contractor did. I’m also not a fan of Uncle Sam (who made Musk a success with taxpayer funds for SpaceX and subsidies for Tesla) now turning on him, and using Ronan Farrow to boot.

I didn't think you were Jane. Please don't misunderstood me, I love your work.

I wonder what the timeline is for who bought the terminals/service for Ukraine first? From what I read, USAID(?) Bought the first 1330 terminals. Not sure about the service. Maybe a mix of Ukraine/US/Poland/Baltic states. Maybe Musk jumped also or a bit later. Either way, he didn't pay for it all and he didn't do it from the kindness of his heart. Everything Musk does is transactional, just like Trump. That stupid "peace plan" proposed by Musk was very similar to Putin's.

Love you Jane.
