Jane, it's not just white collar criminals who are black balled for the most part except for a few. If you worked for a company for a long time, then retire, then get bored and try to find a similar job you are just as black balled. Why? Nobody wants to pay you what you make, they feel intimidated by you and if your over 50, ageism is a factor. Nobody wants to invest in you if you are going to retire in a couple of years. It all boils down to who you know. If you don't know anybody you better be ready for a quiet retirement. The job seeking process in this country is kind of broken. Especially now a days. Nobody wants to hire entry level and train people but they don't want to pay for experienced people either. Then there is this new trend of taking timed tests to see if you know what they want you to know. And psychological tests. Ever apply to Lowes or Home Depot?

Every one of the people who you interviewed hurt people who lost money that will never be returned- large amounts of it. There is a path forward for them, as I believe in mercy. The biggest problem they face is the American resentment of oligarchs, and oligarchs that stumble. I wonder if any of them has any gold stashed. Most of us know about offshore and Panama accounts. Wanting to remain part of America is a strong motivator. PR can train you to appear humble, contrite and remorseful. AI can create a new image for you! Their skill set and apparent epiphany might make them excellent internet security analysts or fraud specialists. Certainly knowing the consequences makes they more ethically aware, BUT have they changed? Might Trump skip the country if his ploys are denied/reversed? White collar ethics is a really interesting topic!
